About
Our story began in 1969 in Pennsauken, NJ, when 58-year-old Benjamin DiBartolo realized that there was no better time to pursue his dream of starting a family-run business. Artistic and energetic in the kitchen, Benjamin was known by family and friends as a fantastic baker. After honing his craft at The Wilton Cake Decorating School in Illinois, DiBartolo opened the doors of DiBartolo Bakery—and we’ve been making exquisite confections for our community ever since.
Benjamin ran the shop with his wife Nina, and sons Alfred and Michael until he passed away in 1974. His sons stayed on at the bakery and kept the family tradition alive. In 1990, DiBartolo Bakery relocated to Collingswood, NJ, and quickly evolved into a neighborhood staple with a loyal local following. Soon, the DiBartolo family tradition became legacy—Alfred’s sons joined the business, too. Al DiBartolo Jr., master cake decorator, has leveled up on Benjamin’s dream. An award-winning cake designer and third-generation baker, he is known for over-the-top occassion cakes and sugary creations you might recognize from TV shows like Food Network’s Holiday Wars and TLC’s Next Great Baker.
Since June 2020, DiBartolo Bakery has been a part of the Genesis Hospitality Group. We continue to follow the DiBartolo family recipe — creating something extraordinary from simple, wholesome ingredients.
